Gauri-Sankara Temple has a rare life-size image of Lord Shiva, his consort Parvati and son Ganesh (the elephant God).
An inscription in the temple records the date of installation of the image in Vikrama Samvat 1819 (1762 AD).
In an endearingly egalitarian gesture for the time the inscription not only mentions the name of the reigning sovereign, Alamshah (Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II 1759-1806), the subordinate Raja Vasant Singh Ju Deva and his wife the Rani Badi Sisodiniju, but also that of the sculptor Ghasiram.
